which I use to grade online discussion forums.&nbsp; I built this to help me avoid
being too subjective, although it cannot be totally avoided.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>It is set for up to 4 questions,
with a place to change the total points awarded.&nbsp; Grades are calculated based
on the weight given in column B with the following allocation:<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>In each case the one grading would
enter a percentage value based on a 100% scale&nbsp; (so excellent would equal 100%,
while 65% would indicate a failed grade, but with reasonable effort, and 0%
would equal no effort made &#8211; of course any number in between can be entered,
which affects the final grade)<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>5% for posting the initial post
on-time<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>65% for the content of the initial
post (I don&#8217;t have a rubric for this but generally assign a number of lines and
have some key concepts which have to be touched on)<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>5% for adequate participation in
the discussion (you gauge this as you wish &#8211; if you require 2 responses the
give a 100%&nbsp; if they provide both and 50% if they only provide 1 and 0% if
none)<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>25% for quality of responses
(again subjective)<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>If you don&#8217;t enter anything into
the response section, the percentages shift to the content area for the initial
response.&nbsp; All the calculations for the grading are on the second page of the
workbook.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>I don&#8217;t know if this is what you
were asking for but it has been a big help for me.&nbsp; After I grade each student&#8217;s
participation, I copy the data into a word document for later verification if
needed and to be able to answer questions.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
